
Τσιούφης Κώστας
Costas Tsioufis received his MD Degree from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 1987 and obtained his Doctoral Degree from the same university in 1997. Clinical Training: In Interventional Cardiology and Hypertension at the University of Athens, Greece and later at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA.
He is an Associate Professor of Cardiology in the University of Athens, Hippokration Hospital, Greece and he is in charge of the Hypertension Unit of the same institute. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of the “Journal of Hypertension”, the “Hellenic Journal of Cardiology”, the “Clinical Research in Cardiology”, the “Journal of Hypertension Research” and a Reviewer in major Cardiology and Critical Care Journals. He has published widely on hypertensive disease, coronary heart disease, cardiorenal disease, interventional cardiology, peripheral vascular disease and on novel interventional therapies of hypertension. Moreover, he is actively involved (as primary investigator) in major clinical trials in the field of hypertension, heart failure and coronary artery disease.
He has more than 320 publications in peer-reviewed Journals, with a total impact factor more than 1000, more than 4000 citations and an Η-index > 30. He also has 20 Chapters in Books and has delivered more than 300 invited lectures in International congresses. He co-edited with Roland Schmieder and Giuseppe Mancia, the “Book on Interventional Therapies for Secondary and Essential Hypertension” (Springer 2016).
Prof Tsioufis is currently President of ESH (European Society of Hypertension), President of Hellenic Society of Cardiology and Member of the writing committee of the ESH/ESC Guidelines for the management of Hypertension.
